A pixel is a fluid crystal illuminated by a device behind the TV screen to show different colors. That’s the number of pixels on the screen. When we talk about TV’s and computer monitor’s picture quality, we’re talking about their resolution. I’ve also done this same analysis for the difference between 1080p TV’s and 4K TV’s. Then, you can decide if you need to upgrade now, or whether that old 720p TV of yours still has some life left in it. Then I’m going to explain why (and when) it makes a difference. So in this article, I’m going to explain the difference between 720p and 1080p (and 1080i). This got me wondering what the real difference is between 720p vs 1080p TV’s, and at what point can you really see the difference. But it’s 720p, and that automatically makes it obsolete, right? ![]() It’s a Samsung and still looks great, actually. And since the average lifespan of a TV is between 5-10 years, I’ll bet I’m not the only one.
